Rig design and manufacture
At Custom Spars, we specialise in the design, engineering and manufacture of bespoke yacht masts, spars and complete rig packages for monohulls and multihulls. Drawing on over 35 years of mast manufacturing experience, we work closely with yacht designers, boatbuilders and owners to develop tailored rig solutions that meet the structural, performance and operational requirements of each vessel.
Our manufacturing capabilities encompass aluminium masts, booms, crossbeams, compression posts, longerons and associated structural components. We also supply carbon rig packages and manufacture carbon furling booms. From high-performance sailing yachts to long-range cruising and expedition vessels, every project is approached with careful consideration of the yacht’s design, intended use, sail handling requirements and operating conditions.
Custom Spars offers a comprehensive manufacturing service, incorporating specialised fabrication, precision machining, welding, fit-out and finishing. Our ability to design and manufacture bespoke fittings, hardware and structural components allows us to accommodate unique configurations and complex project requirements.
Beyond the manufacture of masts and spars, we provide complete rigging packages, including standing and running rigging, headsail furling systems and in-boom furling solutions, ensuring that the various elements of the rig are designed to work together.
Our involvement extends through the final stages of mast dressing, stepping, rig tuning, sea trialling and commissioning. This end-to-end capability, combined with the extensive practical sailing and rigging experience of our team, enables us to deliver fully integrated rig solutions engineered for performance, reliability and long-term service.
